We are looking for experienced construction estimators who understand that estimating is more than performing a takeoff. A strong estimator understands how the project will actually be built.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
- Previous construction estimating experience
- Review plans, specifications, addenda, and bid documents
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs
- Develop material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and project costs
- Understand labor productivity and crew requirements
- Request and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and general contractors
- Prepare proposals and bid documentation
- Strong spreadsheet and computer skills
- Experience with estimating and takeoff software
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, risks, and unusual project requirements
- Manage multiple bids and deadlines
- Track bid results and assist with improving estimating accuracy
Public Works Experience Preferred
Knowledge of California public works construction, prevailing wage, DIR requirements, bid bonds, payment/performance bonds, specifications, and public contracting requirements is a strong plus.
